KNP upgrades its workflow through Heidelberg
We have now invested in the new Prinect workflow and Tharstern MIS upgrades which it hopes will give us a 10 to 15% improvement in productivity but also pave the way for our web-to-print portal which will be released in January 2019.
Our studio manager Dave Witherden has monitored Prinect since its launch and is delighted with the decision. Dave and production manager Steve Omer will undertake a two-stage training programme during the installation and integration period in September.
“We can seamlessly integrate Prinect with the latest Tharstern MIS modules and we will be able to quickly and easily output to both our Speedmaster SM 74-10-P and our Xerox iGen presses,” says Steve. “The increase in productivity this will give us means our customers will benefit from quicker turnrounds immediately and when we implement the web portal, either at the end of this year or the beginning of next, customers will receive proofs quickly and accurately and be able to amend and return them easily. We will also offer templates to those wanting to load jobs online.”
We have also switched its plates supply from Kodak to Heidelberg.

The print revolution is happening. After a rise of 4% income on printed book sales in 2017 it seems that publishers who moved to digital are now finding it levelling off with digital and with the print performances returning this now signals the ongoing return to the printed paper. Many of our clients are interested in our sustainable print production. My answer is always “We are as good as OUR supply chain”. How many companies advertise they are carbon free and actually know where their supply chain originate from ?
We feel that this will only grow in significance for all businesses. So it’s important to help them understand how, as a partner, we can be part of their responsible supply chain, and contribute to them achieving their social and environmental goals.
